Jaguars Scrimmage Tonight

Friday, August 1st, 2008

The Jacksonville Jaguars are holding a scrimmage tonight in the stadium. It is free and open to the public (I also heard there will be $2 beers). I went last year and it was a lot of fun. There must have been 15,000 people there. Fred Taylor will be there and in action.

The Jags did have a light practice this morning to get ready for tonight. Fred had a couple of carries that he turned into decent gains. But he also showed nice hands on a catch out of the backfield. We haven’t seen Fred involved in the passing game since Maurice Jones-Drew arrived, so this was quite a treat. I’d love to see Fred catch 30-40 balls this year.

Reggie Williams Has Surgery

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Jaguars WR Reggie Williams will undergo arthroscopic surgery after re-injuring his right knee during training camp. But wait, I thought this is a Fred Taylor fan site… why are we getting news on Reggie Williams? This very quick video will help make the connection

Reggie Williams is the one of the best blocking WRs in the NFL. His value to our run game is unmeasurable. If Reggie can’t get back ont he field for the first few games, then Fred Taylor’s ability to break the big one will suffer. Wish him well!

Fred Back at Camp

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Fred Taylor is back at Jaguars Training Camp and is looking as good as ever. He even scored a touchdown yesterday as the Jaguars practiced their red zone offense. Too bad Del Rio rarely gives him opportunities inside the 10 yard line. Freddy scores his points busting the long ones.

If you’ve missed out on seeing Fred Taylor in action during the 2008 Training Camp, there is a man by the name of FBT on the Jaguars.com message board that prepares comments on his observations. Here’s what he had to say about Fred Taylor’s practice yesterday. “Fred Taylor continues to amaze with his precision, and his explosive burst. Fred really looks strong out there. It is interesting watching him preparing for the practices because while the rest of the team is out doing field drills to loosen up, Fred is by himself going through an extensive stretching ritual that is clearly working well for him.”

The Jaguars have an AM and PM session today and only a PM session tomorrow.

Jaguars Training Camp Begins

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

The 2008 Jacksonville Jaguars training camp started yesterday morning. Fred Taylor was excused from Saturday’s practices because he was attending Samari Rolle’s father’s funeral. All reports coming out are that the Jags had an awesome camp, Garrard and MJD looked very sharp. There’s no doubt if the Jaguars stay healthy they will have an explosive offense and put up a ton of points. I want to see Fred get in the endzone 10 times this year!

I’ll be sure to bring you more updates once Freddy is back at camp.

Jaguars End Mini Camps

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

The Jacksonville Jaguars ended mini-camps last week. They now have 5-6 weeks off until the start of training camp, which begins July 25. Fred Taylor looked great in mini camps and came out healthy. He now returns to South Florida where he will continue to condition his body for the NFL season.

Fred Taylor Looked Good at Mini Camp

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Because I was not able to make it to mini camp this weekend, I thought I would post a couple of notes on Fred that can be found on the Jaguars Message Board.

In the 11×11s:

Fred Taylor is looking smooth and quick.  Gone is the stutter step that was his trademark for many years.  The more seasoned Fred Taylor continues to show outstanding patience, allowing blockers to set up in front of him, and then hitting the burners to burst through the line.  He is looking as sharp as he did at any point last year.  Granted, there is no contact to be found, but the way he allowed his blocks to set up, then finding the crease and accelerating through it was a thing of beauty.

In the 7×7s:

Fred Taylor showed some nice hands on a couple of plays out of the backfield.  With Mathis not practicing, Brian Williams was victimized by the Pro Bowler, as Fred blew right by him.

Overall it seemed like a great session for Freddy. He came out looking like he should. He was fast and strong and showed poise running through the tackles.
