Fred Taylor Enjoys First Pro Bowl

Monday, February 11th, 2008

The 10-year veteran was a rookie all over again at this years Pro Bowl in Hawaii. While the AFC did lose the game 42-30, Fred Taylor lead his team in carries. Too bad it was only 3… but still. He had 3 carries for 15 yards. One of his carries came on the 5 yard line in which he took it to the 1. Coach Norv Turner tried to get Freddy in the end zone, but it just didn’t happen.

Everyone was happy to have Fred at the Pro Bowl. “You could see how truly excited he is and he’s not taking it for granted,” said Manning, an eight-time Pro Bowler. “He’s deserving. I think a lot of players around the league are happy Fred is over here. What a great player he is. I’ve played against him since my freshman year in college. I know.”

Fred Taylor had a blast while in Hawaii. In the pre-game interview, he said he brought 38 people with him. It must have been a great trip for him and his family and friends. Congrats once again to Fred.

Fred and The Jags Come Up Short

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Fred Taylor and the Jacksonville Jaguars witnessed first hand the awesomeness of the New England Patriots on Saturday night. The Jags hung in there the 1st half going into the locker room tied 14-14, but ultimately fell to the Pats 31-20. Taylor rushed the ball 13 times for 47 yards and had no receptions.

It was hard for the Jags to get Taylor involved in the game. They were taken out of their element and forced to throw the ball early and often. Taylor was no doubt very frustrated and saddened by the loss. He really gave it his all this year and still came up short. I just hope Fred can bring that same intensity to the field in 2008.

Brady was near perfect, completing 26 of 28 passes for 262 yards and 3 touchdowns. Those stats are simply amazing. Although it didn’t help that Mathis and the rest of the secondary forgot how to tackle. And I thought the Jaguars defense was supposed to be good?

Oh well, the game is over now. Fred had an awesome season. Probably a top 3 season in his career. Next stop… Hawaii.

Taylor and the Jags Victorious

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Fred Taylor helped the Jacksonville Jaguars win their first playoff game since 1999 and boy was it sweet. The Pittsburgh Steelers had never in their history lost to the same team twice in the same season on their home field. The Steelers rallied late, but the Jags were able to hold them off.

Fred Taylor got things going by putting the first Jaguar touchdown up on the board. MJD returned a kickoff for 99 yards, which set up the 1 yard Taylor touchdown run. Fred finished the game with 16 carries for 48 yards and one touchdown. He never really got things going, but that’s because the Steelers were ready to stop the run this game. They stacked 8-9 in the box all game, pretty much eliminating the run and forcing Garrard to throw.

I’m sure Taylor was amped to put up big numbers on Pittsburgh like he alway has, but I’m sure he’s just as happy with a Jaguar victory, something he’s been craving for nearly a decade. The Jags will now head into a very hostile environment in New Englad to face the Patriots next weekend.
